Legal Action against Bwin in Spain

The Spanish land-based gambling giant Codere has initiated legal action against Bwin in relation of their sponsorship of one of the country's biggest football clubs Real Madrid.

The action comes in an interesting time for the Spanish market as it ventures closer to regulating online gambling.

For many years the market ran unregulated with many offshore operators offering their online services to Spanish gamblers and advertising heavily to potential players.

Codere argues that even under current Spanish legislation they have a right to advertise inland while foreign operators don't and will continue its legal battle to prove so.
