There are problems brewing between William Hill and Playtech, the gaming software giant with which William Hill entered into a 5 year joint venture agreement in 2009, resulting in a court injunction issued by William Hill against Playtech.

The reason for the problem is a recent a discussion that Playtech initiated with William Hill regarding their desire to amend their current joint venture agreement, coupled with the fact that during the same time speculations started circulating regarding talks between Ladbrokes and Playtech regarding a possible merger.

Ladbrokes is William Hill's biggest competitor within the UK market and outside of it with both companies strongly courting other European clients in recent years.

Therefore it is no surprise that William Hill has resorted to legal action to ensure its Playtech software exclusivity.
This story is surprising from another aspect as it was previously reported that Ladbrokes was in talks with 888 over a possible takeover.
