Casinos supporting schoos in Ohio

There is a practice in Ohio USA that was established by the local government and has proven it's effectiveness through the time of it's existence. The local casinos share their revenue with the county and since 2013 part of that money go to the local schools.

School districts in Ohio share 34 % of that tax revenue and receive two payments a year — one in January and another in August.

Local governments receive casino payments four times a year.

The school district's authorities are pleased with the money they get, but say that it's not enough to cover the budget cuts that took place in 2013.

Though the numbers of the payments are not something extraordinary, the money from the casino business that goes to support the local educational facilities is a great “karma” practice for the gambling industry leaders, not to mention the general idea of funding the county's budget.

The amount the government gets from the casinos is never fixed that's why it's not reliable, the sources say.

“Any additional support obviously helps the district, and certainly Northeastern has been in a cycle in which we’ve tried to go back to voters for additional support, and any time you have something that can help that bottom line it’s certainly appreciated,” Northeastern Superintendent Lou Kramer said.

“The amount of those payments is unpredictable, so it’s not as though the district can count on that as a reliable revenue source and allocate that to a specific project because we simply don’t know what the funding level is,” Kramer said.
