Legislation to Control Online Casinos in US?

Proposals to regulate the online poker industry by means of new legislation which will allow each State to decide whether online gambling should be legal within its borders and which will require online casinos to be licensed has been met with huge criticism by leaders within the casino industry.

The idea behind the legislation is to protect the millions of Americans who bet billions of dollars on casino web sites based outside of the US every year. This is a welcome proposal with regards to the range of dubious online casinos that have been making headlines for the past year. One of these is the online casino Full Tilt Poker which found itself accused of fraud and money-laundering.

The American Gambling Association (AGA) is now positive about the move to keep a closer eye on online gambling and online casinos to prevent matters like this from occurring in the future. The AGA is insistent on tighter controls of online casinos to ensure that everything is as it should be. This implies that independent auditors will check that nothing is wrong with the poker software, that children will not able to access the poker or online casino services and that there will be absolutely no form of money laundering or fraud, as has been the case with casino site Full Tilt Poker.

Naturally, any such action will put very tight chains on any online casino hoping to take a slice of the American market for casinos and gambling.

We eagerly await the outcome of the dispute, but it looks like the proposals will undoubtedly result in new legislation. Keep checking our site for updates as we will be bringing you the latest casino news around the clock.
