This week almost 200 employees of William Hill Online have walked out of their offices in Tel Aviv, Israel and refused to return to work amid fears of losing their jobs as rumors circulating that William Hill is planning on moving its marketing business to Gibraltar or the UK.

Members of William Hill senior management have flown to Tel Aviv in a bid to calm employees and in order to inform senior managers in Tel Aviv that they are to expect disciplinary action for not stopping the walkout.

In addition William Hill confirmed to the London Stock Exchange that it chief marketing officer Eyal Sanoff has resigned from his role at the end of September but did not supply any reasons for the resignation.

In 2009 William Hill and gaming software giant Playtech have created a joint venture called William Hill Online and William Hill moved its entire marketing, customer service management and back office management to Tel Aviv.

William Hill Online had a rocky start but is rumored to announce annual profits exceeding 100 Million GBP. Regardless, at the time of this writing, William Hill’s shares dropped by 4.6% following the announcement of Eyal Sanoff’s resignation.

William Hill issued a statement saying “William hill Online can confirm that this situation is not directly affecting the availability of any consumer facing websites at present within the group. There will be a further update as necessary.”
