The Mobile Revolution Continues

Mobile gaming was only a distant pipe dream a short fifteen years ago when the online gaming industry started its voyage into our lives. However the exponential advancements in communication technology have helped speed the natural progression of gaming onto the mobile phone arena.

In recent years mobile gaming is taking a more pivotal role in the whole online gaming industry and has forced many operators to ask their software operators to develop mobile platforms or have resorted to outsourcing mobile gaming platforms.

In the beginning of 2010 Juniper Research, a leading international wireless communication researching company, predicted that the mobile gaming will develop into a $48 Billion industry by the year 2015.

A shining example to just how right were Juniper Research in 2010 could have been found in the recent ICE Gaming Conference that took place on January 2011. During the conference several major players in the online gaming industry have unveiled new mobile phone apps for iPhone, Android and many new casino and sports betting apps that are not specific to a particular mobile operating system.

Some of the new mobile gaming products that were unveiled were:

- William Hill released a new online betting app for Android.

- Microgaming developed a poker app for Android.

- Bwin issued its first iPhone real-money poker app.

Some companies have also released apps in various languages to allow their international clients to enjoy products that were already available to English speakers.

The overall feel from the conference was that "those who don't have mobile gaming apps, better get some fast or be left behind". This attitude will sure propel many companies that have so far neglected their mobile gaming to focus on it in the next year to ensure they are optimizing their product for all markets.
