Craps has rules that at first seem complicated but once you get them, the game itself is very simple. The game is played by at least one player who plays against the casino.
One player who will throw the 2 dice is called the shooter. The shooter position moves form player to player clockwise as the game progresses. Each player around the craps table will get a chance to be the shooter, but can waive the right and just continue to place bets.
Players gather around the craps table and make bets on whether the shooter will roll the dice needed for him to win or not.
The main bet is a Pass Line bet and it is placed before the Come Out roll. If the come out roll is 7 or 11 then the Pass Line bet wins, while the Don't Pass bet loses. In this case the betting round is completed.
In case the Come Out roll is 2, 3 or 12, then the opposite happens and the Don't Pass bet wins or ties (in case of rolling 12) and Pass Line bet loses.
If the Come Out roll is any other number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10) then the number rolled becomes the Point. The Point number will be marked on the craps table and the shooter will continue to roll until they hit the Point number or roll a 7. If the Point number is rolled before the 7 then Pass Line bets win and if not then Don't Pass line bets win.
The main thing to remember is which types of bets are available to players at different stages of the game. It also makes better sense to go for the even money bets rather than the higher payout bets as the house edge on those bets is very high.
