The Borgata Hotel Casino's 10th anniversary celebrations came to a disappointing halt when three men managed to make away with jewelry worth around $500,000.

The security team at the Borgata Hotel Casino contacted local police in the evening after three men had stolen the jewelry from a store in the building, had escaped on foot and then made away in a dark vehicle. The men did not appear to be armed with any kind of weapon.

Now the police will have to rely on CCTV images of the three men to identify them, but for the time being, very little information is available about the case. No arrests have been made yet.

The event has certainly put a dark cloud over what was intended to be a very cheerful evening, celebrating exactly 10 years since the casino was built in Atlantic City. What made it so special at the time was that it was the first new casino to be built in the area in 13 years, and in the 10 years since it has been built, it has become one of the most popular casinos in the area. It has as many as 3,400 slot machines, 200 gambling tables, 2,000 guest rooms and a total of 11 shops.

Now only time will tell if Atlantic City police can identify and find the perpetrators, but this might certainly prove a challenge as the men's faces are not particularly clear on the CCTV footage that has been recorded.
