American Roulette Guide

American Roulette is the modern incarnation of the original Roulette game and was invented around 150 after the original French Roulette was invented. It uses a Roulette wheel that offers also a 00 pocket in addition to the 0 pocket available in European and French Roulette games.

The original French Roulette had also a 00 pocket but when the game came to Monte Carlo it was changed to a single 0 and stayed this way, while in America the double 0 game remained dominant which is why now days the double zero game is referred to as American Roulette and the single zero is the European or French Roulette.

When you play American Roulette the house edge is 5.26% which means that for every $100 wagered the casino will get $5.26. This house edge is almost double the house edge in European Roulette which is why Roulette experts always recommend you play either European or French Roulette as the house edge is almost halved when playing European Roulette to 2.70% and in French Roulette, on even money bets, the house edge is half that and stands on 1.35%.

American Roulette offers a unique bet of 5 Numbers on 0, 00, 1, 2 & 3. This is not a bet we recommend you make as it has very bad odds.

Another major difference between the European Roulette and American Roulette is the way in which the numbers appear on the Roulette wheel. In European Roulette they are randomly arranged and in American Roulette they are arranged in pairs in the following sequence: 1-00-27-10-25-29-12-8-19-31-18-6-21-33-16-4-23-35-14-2-0-28-9-26-30-11-7-20-32-17-5-22-34 -15-3-24-36-13
