France and Italy memorandum on co-operation of their two online gambling regulatory bodies get closer.

As we reported last month France's eGaming regulatory authority ARJEL and Italy's online gaming regulator AAMS has been in discussions on co-operating to gain better control of their respective online gaming markets.

Now ARJEL president Jean-François Villotte received the authorization he needed from the French regulatory authority he required in order to enter into an agreement with AAMS.

They were eager to generate a formal agreement that will allow both parties to openly share information which is sure to increase their tight grip on their eGaming markets.

Both regulators have a common interest in maintaining very close control over their markets in terms of licensing and monitoring to ensure the security of their online players and ensure that French and Italian monies do not find their way to offshore companies or unsavory individuals operating on the fringes of the industry.

Italy was one of the first European countries to regulate and license its online gambling market and has issued a local license for all types of gambling products including casino, poker, sportsbook and bingo.

France used to ban all online gambling except for sports betting but following a protest from the European Commission they have changed their stand and have opened their market to allow a wider selection of regulated online gambling products.

Both countries are at the forefront of modern legislation and approach to online gambling that both allow their residents to wager online, but also fights tooth and nail to ensure they do so in a regulated environment.
