A proposed change in Ireland's legislation marks a change in attitude towards online casinos and other gaming brands operators.

Up until now no taxes were paid to the government for revenues generated from Irish gamblers, but the new legislation will put a levy as "betting intermediary duty" that will see sportsbook operators paying 15% of all charges made on wagers accepted.

The proposed change is estimated to generate around €20Million for the government in added revenue which will sure help Ireland that is yet to fully recover from the economic decline it suffered since 2008.
