Last Plea to New Jersey Governor

Following the absolute veto that New Governor Chris Christie imposed yesterday on the propose New Jersey e-gaming bill and essentially prevented from New Jersey from becoming the first state in the US to legalize e-gaming.

Senator Lesniak has issued a plea for the governor to reconsider the bill assuming the concerns with its current draft will be amended.

Senator Lesniak is adamant that this bill becoming law is essential to rejuvenation of New Jersey and its almost insolvent gambling resort Atlantic City. It is also crucial in keeping New Jersey money within the state and not allowing out of state sport betting take place, which the Senator is sure will happen once other states legalize e-gaming.

Currently the main loss of revenue is from sports betting revenue. This is the way Lesniak sees it; "Every year, New Jersey-based casinos lose out on hundreds of millions of dollars and thousands of jobs because the federal ban on sports wagering gives casinos in Las Vegas and other states around the nation an unfair advantage."

His fears are that the money lost to Las Vegas, Nevada is all money that could be going towards improving New Jersey's economy during these turbulent times and that money from e-gaming taxation should be used to regenerate New Jersey's dwindling tourism industry.
