Microgaming is one of the biggest online gaming software companies in the world. It provides many online casinos with their software and is known for its huge selection of games and hundreds of slot games. In fact they offer more slot games of any type than any other software provider.
One of the companies to use Microgaming software is the UK’s offline and online gambling giant Ladbrokes, and as we reported back in February, that were shopping for a new software provider after thoughts of not renewing their existing license with Microgaming.
Ladbrokes started talks with Playtech that resulted in William Hill, Playtech joint venture partner and Ladbrokes biggest UK rival, taking out a court injunction against Playtech negotiating further with Ladbrokes.
William Hill and Playtech eventually ended their dispute out of court and the new agreement allowed Playtech to enter into software licensing negotiations with Ladbrokes. This led many industry professionals to assume that soon enough Ladbrokes would switch from Microgaming to Playtech as their main gambling software provider.
However the industry rumor mill got it wrong this time and Ladbrokes have eventually opted to renegotiate their contract with Microgaming and retain their current selection of exciting online casino games.
This renegotiation has been the first of its kind for Ladbrokes since new CEO Richard Glynn took over the company. A spokesperson for the company stated that “it is essentially a new deal, rather than an extension of our existing agreement, and on improved terms”. Ladbrokes did not confirm what those new terms are and only stated that the new agreement allows them access to a wider selection of Microgaming games than it had before.
