Nevada Intrastate eGaming Bill Progress

The gambling capital state of the United States of America; Nevada, continues to lead the struggle for regulated and licensed eGaming market in the US.

Following in the footsteps of the real capital of the US; Washington D.C. that was the first to approve intrastate gambling in a bill passed back in April, the Nevada State Assembly approved an online gambling bill in a unanimous vote.

Nevada was not without its struggles to pass the bill and the version that was finally approved is a watered-down version of the original draft, but overall the support for legalizing intrastate online gambling has served its purpose and the bill was passed.

The earliest winds of changes from Nevada with regards to online gambling came in late March when the Nevada Gambling Commission voted to approve the new business ties between Caesars Entertainment Corp., A US-based casino and resort company, and 888 Holdings PLC, a Gibraltar-based online gambling operator traded on the London Stock Exchange.

This move pushed legislators to try and agree on a draft bill that will be acceptable on all parties and create an opening for a regulated online poker market for residents of Nevada.

However at one point it appeared that the Nevada Governor is trying to put the kibosh on the proposed bill by weighing in on the side of the argument that favors interstate federal legislation rather than preferring Nevada to go it alone.

Eventually the bill was passed with the stipulation that it will only come into effect after federal eGaming legislative provisions are approved. The bill will now go before the state's senate for final approval.
