New Tactics to Get Gambling Legal in California

The California Online Poker Association is getting incredibly imaginative in a bid to bring online gambling to California. At the moment, online gambling is illegal in the state of California. However, the California Online Poker Association believes that this may be swiftly changed if they can prove how popular online poker is among Californians.

And how are they attempting to do this exactly? Simple - they have launched CalShark.com, an online poker site that is completely free and available to players anywhere in the world. The player is unable to make any kind of money transaction with the site, but is able to register and play away to his heart's content.

The California Online Poker Association comprises of 60 members and has been attempting to get gambling legal within the boundaries of California for the past two years. It is believed that they will use the potential success of this site to make a case for their cause and ultimately (and hopefully) get online poker legal within the state.

If a poll taken back in September is to be believed, it would seem that the Californian voters are right behind the cause of the California Online Poker Association. The results of the poll suggest that 53% of voters in California are behind the move to legalise online gambling where the proceeds are used for tax revenue. Opposition has challenged this figure based on a small margin of error, but further polls will me made which are expected to show a greater popularity among young, male players.

Only time will tell if the move to legalise gambling within the state of California will succeed, but it seems clear to anyone that the evidence points in this direction.
