Norway Moving Closer Towards ISP-blocking

There is some worrying news coming out of Norway regarding the handling of foreign online gaming operators.

The leading Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet has reported that the country's culture minister Anniken Huitfeldt has hinted that the government may force local Internet Service Providers (ISP) to block offshore gambling sites.

The reason for the move is that the legislation banning monetary transactions from and to foreign gambling sites that came into force last July had no impact of the percent of Norwegian citizens that use such services and the figure stands firmly on 4%.
