Rapper Jim Jones is best known as part of the raw crew Dipset and for his 2007 rap hit called We Fly High but now the rapper and part-time actor had to go to court to face charges from February. Jones had pled guilty to the charge of interfering with police during a fight that occurred in the lobby of the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.
After celebrating the casino’s 20th anniversary at a party hosted by Sean “Diddy Combs,” Jones got into an altercation with an unknown man. After the two exchanged words things got out of control as friends of both men jumped in and punches were thrown in all directions. The 6 cops who arrived on the scene needed to use mace in order to break up the fight and get the men under control.
Jones was taken into custody after the fight because he assaulted one of the police officers but he was released after posting bail at which point he posted a public apology via Twitter. Initially charged with additional offenses including breach of peace and inciting a riot, Jones pled not guilty to all 3 charges. However, he got off easily thanks to a plea deal in which he only had to plead guilty to interfering with police and was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine in exchange for the other 2 charges being dropped. The deal also meant that Jones would not receive any jail time either.
