Zynga, a social gaming company, offers people play-money gambling and is incredibly popular on the social networking site Facebook. However, the company is now looking to move into real money internet gambling and is in talks with several popular casino software solution companies including Playtech, Microgaming and Boss/GTECH G2.
It is no secret that several states in the US are very close to offering internet poker for real money and many internet casino software solution companies and casino operators are trying to get ready for the moment it does.
There are a lot of possibilities right now and very few details of any possible deals, mergers or acquisitions have been revealed. What is known is that bwin.party is looking to sell its Ongame Network and 5 different companies including Zynga would like to buy it. If Zynga is able to close the deal with bwin.party then it may not even need to partner with another company to offer real money internet poker games.
A traffic watchdog site called PokerScout has been tracking Zynga’s play-money platform to see what could happen if the company does enter the new marketplace. PokerScout discovered that Zynga has an on average 121,400 players per day which is “more than twice the size of the total real money poker market, which demonstrates not only the wide reach of play money poker, but also the benefits of being associated with Facebook.”
In the coming months, deals are sure to be made but we will all just have to wait and see which companies will lead the US market with a real money poker network.
