Red Dog

Red Dog is a simple game that has a wide appeal and while its popularity in land casinos has been declining as land casino visitors often prefer the most difficult or sophisticated games. The reason might be social conditioning that causes them to desire to appear to be a sophisticated casino player.

However the story is different in online casinos where the game is growing in popularity and nowadays most online casinos offer this gambling game. Since online casino players often play alone form their own homes there is no facade they feel they need to maintain with regards to appearing to play sophisticated games.

This is probably the best explanation to the difference in attitude between online and offline casinos with regards to Red Dog casino game or Red Dog Poker, which is also known by several other names such as 'Between the Sheets', Yablon, 'In-between' or as most people know it 'Acey Deucey'.

So for players that mainly care about the two most important aspects of gambling games, those being; having fun and winning money, Red Dog is a great game that is easy to master and offers good odds when playing with optimal strategy.

The game starts when a player puts an Ante wager and two face up cards are dealt to the player when the objective of the game is to have the third card dealt be of numerical value that falls between the two cards already showing.

Cards have the numerical value as in poker with Ace being the highest value of 14 and Duce being the lowest with a value of 2.

When the two cards are initially dealt there are three possible outcomes:

If the two cards are consecutive the players Ante is pushed and the game starts again. If the two cards are of identical value; a third card is immediately drawn and if the third is the same as the previous two cards then the player will get a payout of 11 to 1 on their Ante wager.

The third option is two cards that are neither consecutive or the same in which case the game continues by having the Red Dog puck move to the appropriate place on the table grid to indicate the spread of the cards and the potential payout.

The player is then given the option to 'Raise' by increasing their bet to double their original Ante bet and be dealt another card, or to 'Draw' another card without increasing their bet.

The house edge in Red Dog depends on how many decks of cards are used to play the game and falls the more decks are in use. Usually the house edge range is 3.1% to 2.7%.

The strategy is to only make raises when the spread is favorable to the player and is at least seven points. This works regardless of how many decks are in use.
