Tequila Poker is a very unique game that actually combines two games into one: poker and a point game where players can bet on the total value of the cards. Both games are played simultaneously in the same playing hand.
The game was developed only a few years ago by the online gaming software giant Playtech and has gained immense popularity over a short period of time due to it being a fast-action game with versatile betting options.
Tequila Poker is played with a single 52-cards deck and the game begins with the player making an Ante bet before any cards are dealt. After the player places their Ante bet four cards are dealt face-up. At this point the player has three options to choose from:
1. Play Tequila Poker
2. Play High Tequila
3. Fold
If the player chooses to continue play and picks either Tequila Poker or High Tequila they will need to place a bet that is equal to their original Ante bet. If the player decides to fold they will lose their Ante bet and the hand will be finished.
Player who continues to play will be dealt two additional cards face-up and based on the type of game mode the player chooses to play in, the outcome of the game will be decided using only the six cards that were dealt to the player.
If the player is playing Tequila Poker their six cards hand will be evaluated according to poker hands ranking. The lowest paid hand is a pair of aces and the pay table is as follows:
• Royal Flush – 200:1
• Straight Flush – 50:1
• 4-of-a-Kind – 15:1
• Full House – 8:1
• Flush – 7:1
• Straight – 5:1
• 3-of-a-Kind – 3:1
• Two Pair – 2:1
• Pair of Aces – 1:1
Players who chose to play Tequila High will have their six cards hand evaluated according to the total numerical value of their cards. Aces will always count as 11 and face cards count as 10's.
The pay table for Tequila High game is as follows:
• 54 – 200:1
• 53 – 15:1
• 52 – 7:1
• 51 – 4:1
• 50 – 3:1
• 49 – 2:1
• 46-48 – 1:1
Tequila Poker does not allow players to apply any poker strategy due to the lack of game stages such as pre-flop, flop, turn and river and there is no option to draw other cards.
The strategic planning in this game relates to the stage after the initial four cards are dealt and the player needs to select if to fold or continue to play and in what mode of play.
You should select to play Tequila Poker if you have a pair, a four-card straight or flush draws. Otherwise you should select to play High Tequila but only if the total value of your highest three cards out of the four cards showing is 28 or higher. If not simply fold the hand as the odds are against you.
